Character Design from the Ground Up: Make Your Sketches Come to Life (English Edition) All Stories Have Characters, And Whether Its A Film, Game, Book, Or Comic, All Characters Need To Be Designed Character Design Has Become A Distinct Discipline In The Entertainment Industry, And Character Designers Are Employed By Film And Game Companies Across The Globe To Bring Life To Scripts And Ideas In This Book, Illustrator And Character Designer Kevin Crossley Provides A Complete Overview Of Character Design Starting With The Basics Of Materials, Equipment, And Sofware, Kevin Will Explain The Processes Professional Character Designers Follow To Develop Characters For Publishing, Games, And Film From Ideas And Thumbnails, Anatomy And Reference, Through Effective Drawing, D Mock Ups And Full Turnarounds, Kev Explains How A Character Designer Works To Achieve Professional Results Tratta un po di tutto, qualche accenno alle basi, qualcuno agli strumenti, anatomia, l importanza degli schizzi, come rapportarsi con un cliente, usare il 3d nelle illustrazioni, approfondimenti su casi particolari come Judge Dread etc etc il risultato un po un miscuglio secondo me non proprio ben riuscito, diluendosi un po qui e un po l , spesso con risultati scarsi come per la piccola sezione dedicata all anatomia, assolutamente insufficiente pertanto praticamente inutile Tutto sommato, per , alla fine ti da un idea abbastanza solida su cosa voglia dire lavorare come creatore di personaggi, per quanto mi sarei aspettato di pi proprio in questo ambito e meno discussioni su altri aspetti che bene approfondire per proprio conto con volumi specifici. This book is little than a sketchbook of the artists work with some information about his thought process for each piece There is very little in the way of actual educational or drawing information. Not what I expected I thought this book would be about drawing I think this book is about how the author comes up with ideas for characters I just can t make myself read it as it seems to ramble along about nothing I skimmed about 30% of the book hoping it would actually start If you don t know how to already draw a very detailed character, then don t bother with this book If you want to know how this author gets ideas, maybe this might help.
